The Story behind the Blog

I have been storytelling since I was born. I made up tall tales, fabricated fiction around silly goofy stuffs. I learnt I had the ability to exaggerate plain and simple incidents and turn them into epic stories. Initially my ability stayed mostly verbal, my audience were my siblings. However I started writing in 2010 as part of my IT organisation’s blog page and the reaction I received was tremendous. Thus started my blogging journey which went on in full swing for 4 years. It came to an abrupt end in 2014 when I got married and had to move from India to America.

After that I stayed busy with my domestic life, a job in between. Before I knew it I was a mother to a daughter. These 4 years I had completely forgotten my hobby of storytelling and on our 4th wedding anniversary, my husband gifted me the domain and the website. He sat down and brainstormed the name, content, design for the website. KabhiFactKabhiFiction was thus started as an ode to my storytelling as a constant push from my partner so that I didn’t give up my hobby, rather have a forum to scribble meticulously.

It has been a constant struggle to juggle real life and take out time for writing but at the end of the day every blog post has made me happier and less complaining. I am extremely thankful to Twitter and WritingCommunity for the plethora of support and love that they have given me.

Currently I am publishing stories – long and short on my website;  gradually I plan to touch the topics of parenting, life lessons, writing tips, education and so on. Nonetheless the main focus is always going to be stories at my site!!

Advice for the bloggers

As you delve deeper into the world of blogging; meet, greet and communicate with real life global bloggers; there shall come a time when you question the credibility of your work.

There can be moments when you feel lost in this crowd of monetization, views, statistics, number games and so on.

My advice is

  • Do not lose faith on your work, your words, your creative strength. Words are magic. Your post, your views, your perspective, your thoughts, your opinion, your review, your feedback have the power to motivate people, turn lives around, uplift someone’s mood and help avert crisis!! Do not underestimate the power of words.
  • No matter how much you money you make, how many viewers you have, how many subscribers you get; remember if you can win people’s hearts, make some new friends, then your hard work has earned its’ apt price. Always utilize your power of writing in a good way.
  • Add some love to this world which is suffused with violence, anger, frustration, pain. Write something that brings a smile on someone’s face.
  • Most importantly, never stop learning. There are thousands of posts, tools, plugins,  pins on pinterest; dig them, learn, utilize your learnings, make your playground (your website) an unforgettable experience for the viewers.
  • Lastly, always remember to count your earnings in friends and happiness rather than money!
